I moved to Seattle shortly after my husband died in 1997. I lived
in a condo on First Hill for a little over three years. When I began falling, my doctor suggested that I might consider moving
to an assisted living community. During the spring and summer of 2000, my family and I visited several places but none really
appealed to me.
In August we learned that there was to be a grand opening of
a renovated building called Faerland Terrace. It was close to my condo neighborhood and convenient to my children. My family
and I decided to visit and compare it with those we had already seen. We entered under a beautiful canopy. It was not an ordinary
entrance. It was open and light with a welcoming atmosphere coplemented by a beautiful Oriental rug, an antique table and
a large beautiful bouquet of flowers. On the walls were lovely paintings and prints. The Marketing Director showed us several
apartments and the common areas. I especially liked the library and the dining room.
I knew right away which apartment I wanted. What impressed me
the most was the view from my window of the gold dome of the Covenant Church.
On August 11th, I moved in. For a few days I was the only resident,
but gradually others came. It wasn't long before there were four at my dinner table.
This has been my home for seven years. I have made many special
friends. I feel that if I need extra help or attention I only have to ask. I am happy with my decision to come to Faerland
Terrace and feel that it is my home.

I am writing this lettter to express my appreciation and support of the
staff and dementia care program at Faerland Terrace, and also with the thought that it may assist families trying to decide
if this community is appropriate for their loved one. By way of background, my father lived in one other assisted living facility,
as well as a nursing home before moving to Faerland Terrace in August 2002. We have this basis for comparison, plus
my wife is a physician. We feel very fortunate to have found Faerland.
By an odd twist of fate, we were brought here by a Seattle police officer, who happened to be at the nursing home where my
father was living, investigating an incident. She told us she knew of a "really good place". We followed her patrol car to Faerland
Terrace and moved my father in the next day after several years of challenged nursing home care. To our great pleasure,
we have been very pleased with the quality of the nursing staff. They have gone to great lengths to respond to my father's
needs in conjunction with the family's specific requests.
Perhaps most significant, the ongoing caring nature of the staff is fantastic.
Somehow you have been able to create an environment staffed by a very concerned and sympathetic group. It is incredibly reassuring
to know this group of people is caring for my father.
We have the sense that those involved are interested in our feedback and
want to provide the best care possible. The bottom line is that we feel very confident and comfortable in recommending Faerland
Terrace to others.

I have been coming to Faerland Terrace since April 2001 to visit and take
out a resident on Rosewood. The staff has always been friendly, helpful, respectful and understanding of both of us. I am
always welcome to join in on activities and outings. The building is well maintained and clean and the meals are tasty. Faerland Terrace is a caring place for persons needing help, and in helping them to
remain as independent as possible.

is receiving the best care possible. The staff and residents have become our extended family! Life is better for
